On Saturday, I’m going to TribeCamp. What’s TribeCamp? Here’s what the organizers have to say about it:
TribeCamp is a daylong conference with sessions about Web Content Creation, Social Media, Online Marketing, and “Tribes”, which are really professional groups of people with some commonality (think Designers, Entrepreneurs, Marketers, etc…). However, the sessions are just half of the day.
Tonight is the project showcase for my IDT 7095/8095: Developing Interactive Learning Environments II course. The overwhelming majority of this course is based in working with a “live” external client. At the beginning of the semester, student teams select clients from proposals I have received. Then students work all semester with the client to analyze, design, develop, implement and evaluate a solution to the proposed problem. As part of the showcase, student teams will present an executive summary of their projects’ problems, solutions and evaluations. This semester there are four strong teams.
Here goes. I’m going to do something unusual for me.
I’m going to tell a private story to the public.
When I was 16-years-old, I became very sick.
I lost 40 pounds without trying.
I experienced pain every night.
I lived with lots of embarrassing personal events.
I graduated high school, went to college, graduated with a BS then a Masters, and I still was sick without any real explanation.
Thanks to one of favorite feeds at Lifehacker, I found “So you need a typeface?” Designer Julian Hansen has come up with the choose-your-own-adventure-version of The Font Book. I encourage you to revel in the simplicity and inspriration. (Mrs. Leininger, this one is for you!)

Image via Wikipedia I have to admit, coming from a printing background, I am pretty sensitive to hype when it comes to Earth Day and environmentalism. In fact, my wife has made me even more sensitive. Recently, her new coming Allkidscrafts.com has had me brainstorming and testing recycling crafts for about a month now. Two recent articles, though, bring together [...]
Within our Instructional Design & Technology 7095/8095, project teams will be presenting synopses of their projects for this semester in a Project Showcase of live clients. Their work represents approximately $15,000 – 20,000 worth of instructional development. In the showcase, each team of students will present a 15-minute overview of their project and product.
